There are two possible procedures for application under this category. We call the first one “Federal procedure” and the second “ Quebec procedure”.
The federal procedure uses a point system and concerns your level of education, age, work experience, knowledge in English and/or French and the educational level of your spouse. Additional points can be awarded if you have relatives in Canada , but relatives from first line . If you have an arranged employment in Canada approved by HRCC (explanations for this documents are given further below), you can add 10 additional points to your score . Here is the table , according to which the points are calculated:
The minimum needed points with which you can cover the requirements are 67.
Even if you obtain all these points, and it is proved by the documents, which you have presented; in most of the cases you will be given an appointment for an interview. The purpose of the interview is to compare the copies of your documents with the originals, and the immigration officer will evaluate your adaptability and your future plans and readiness to live in Canada . Your good presentation at the interview is of great and decisive importance for your application. Even if you obtain all necessary points, the immigration officers have the right to give a negative response to your application if you do not represent appropriately your readiness and adaptability for life in Canada . The appealing against a negative response in most of the cases is in vain. But you must not think that one appeal of this kind can be done without motives. The whole interview is recorded, and if you receive a refusal, this means that you have answered some of the questions in a manner that is inappropriate with the Canadian understandings for adaptability. Our clients have 100 % of successfulness in the interviews. We know what the immigration officers will ask, and we know what they expect to receive as answers, so our clients are perfectly prepared for the immigration interviews.
The first obligatory condition is to obtain 67 points . If you succeed in obtaining of all required points, then you will have:
• medical examinations;
• a check-up whether you have criminal records and police history;
• a check-up whether you have the required settlement funds with which you will arrive in Canada .
The medical examinations are to be done after you have passed the assessment, you have succeeded in the interview and you have obtained a positive response from the immigration officer. You will receive special forms with your name and a picture of yours. The medical examinations can be done for one day, and must be paid separately from the fees for the embassy. If you do not have any hard disease which require prolonged treatment and which can cost a lot of money of the Canadian Health System (which is free of charge if you are Canadian citizen or Canadian permanent resident), you will receive approval of your medical examinations. The diseases with which you can not immigrate in Canada are listed here .
The check-up for clear police history is easy. You will receive a letter, usually along with the medical examination forms, in which you will be asked to provide a present police certificate. If you have sent it along with your documents or you have presented it on the interview and it is still valid, you will shorten your procedure with a few weeks.
After you have undergone all these check-ups and it is time to be issued a visa, the immigration authorities would like to be informed whether you have all necessary financial settlement funds for your establishment in Canada (the settlement funds). This is your money, and you must show that you have it. The required sum depends on the fact whether you are alone or with a family. Here is the table for the required settlement funds:

At the end of the procedure, the sum will be validated through your bank account. There are some specific requirements for some of the countries and for some of the bank institutions.
The significance of this financial guarantee is to insure your first six months in Canada in case you can not find a job in these months after your arrival. After these six months expire, you will be eligible to receive social assistance.
These sums are different for the province of Quebec , and you can see them here . For the province of Quebec , the required financial guarantee is lower because there, you will be eligible for social assistance three months after your arrival. |
