Immigration > Provincial programs > Quebec

The French speaking province of Canada - Quebec is the only province which has own immigration program with own point system (which is different from the federal point system). This province also has own immigration offices working and covering the different countries of the world. The major requirement for the Quebec immigration procedure is the basic knowledge in French. The required level is intermediate, which can be assessed orally during the interview. During the interview itself, the questions of the immigration officer will be in French, and you will have to understand and to respond with simple answers. The experience with our clients shows that even people who have never studied French, after some 4-5 months course before the interview, succeed to pass successfully. In addition, we prepare our clients for the interviews sending them conspectus with the possible questions, the right answers and other materials for preparation before the interview. But as a whole, the Quebec procedure is much easier and more importantly faster than the other. As we already mentioned, the Federal procedure varies between 24 to 30 months, whereas the Quebec procedure is within 9 to 14 months. The most important thing to know is that as a result at the end with no matter which one of two procedures, you will receive a Canadian visa. This visa is valid for all parts of Canada and there are no restrictions for the place where you would like to arrive and in which province you would like to live.

Which are the other important requirements for this procedure? The age limit in this procedure is lower than the Federal. You will be the ideal candidate if you are between 21 to 35 years old. From 35 to 44 you still have chances, but you will have to compensate the lost points (because of your age) with points for education, profession in demand or excellent French. You can evaluate your chances towards the Quebec procedure here

For a candidate who does speak neither English, nor French, and who is willing to immigrate, we recommend to choose the French language and the Quebec procedure (if he/she meets the other requirements).

The system assesses your education, and if you have additional qualification, you may have additional points. The work experience and the knowledge in English language also cumulate points. If you apply under the Quebec procedure, the system makes difference whether you are alone or with a family accompanying you. You must collect determined points if you are alone and if you are with a family the number of the points is different. This is an advantage of the Quebec immigration procedure because the Federal does not give you such difference in the number of points – whether you are alone or not for the Federal procedure you must have the required points.

If you apply under the Quebec procedure, you may cumulate additional points if you have children, friends or relatives in Quebec and also if you are financially independent during the first three months after your arrival.
