100 million dollars for youth
The minister Mrs. Diane Lemieux wishes that, t 2003-2004, all Québécois the old young people from 16 to 35 years be able to have access to services for job help. Thus, the minister announced on last 13 October a plan of development and consolidation of the crossroads youth-employment (CJE).
This plan aims at creating 11 new crossroads d?ici at 2004 in order to better meet the needs for the young people. The government thus envisages the injection of 100 million dollars till 2004. In Quebec, there are at present 94 crossroads youth-employment. As of this year, five new crossroads will be created. Nearest L?an, six new entities will be born. These new crossroads will be established in the areas of Montreal, Laurentides, Montérégie, Center-of-Quebec and North-of-Quebec. In the long term, more than 100 crossroads will be distributed in the province. The CJE touch on average 50 000 new young people per year. A mission which s?adapte Rappelons that the mission of the crossroads is to d?offrir services which contribute to improve the living conditions of the young people from 16 to 35 years.
The first CJE was created by the government québécois in 1994, whereas Quebec was in full crisis of unemployment. Aujourd?hui, the economic situation s?est improved and the CJE s?adaptent with the new needs for the young people: they post d?emploi offers and propose services d?information on the labour market, of the services d?orientation and d?animation.
For example, it was mentioned at the time of the press conference that crossroads youth-employment of the national Capital, one of the advisers is mobile, that's with statement that they works on the road with its portable computer. It can thus go to offer services to a person, it does not matter where this one is. Moreover, one evening per week, this adviser prepares hot-dogs for the young people who are in more precarious situations.
In this way that this crossroads youth-employment succeeds in touching young people who, otherwise, would not call upon this type of resources. According to the minister, customers 16-35 years represent a potential of 1 700 000 young people in Quebec.
On this proportion, 200 000 young people are currently providing social or insurance mployment. There is not thus a doubt that in spite of the good health of the economy, the young people can still test difficulties of integrating the labour market. That's why, estimates the minister, the CJE must remain a priority! |
