After your arrival as an independent immigrant in Canada , you will receive the status of a Canadian permanent resident. This status provides you with all the rights which the Canadian citizens have concerning the job search and the practice of your profession. The only limitation is that you can not work in the Police departments, neither in the Security services. If they are your goal, you will have to wait three years until you obtain the status of a Canadian citizen and then you can apply for these specific professions.

Land in Canada and start working

As a Canadian permanent resident, you will not need an Employment Authorization. If you are a qualified specialist, and you would like to realize your abilities in your field of study, the first step that you must undertake is to make an evaluation of your diploma towards the Canadian educational standards. You can make this in the immigration centers or in some of the Canadian universities.
The procedure varies between one to three months depending on the province and the filed of your studies. In principal, the received evaluation recognizes your education with one year less.
For example, if you have studied 5 years in a university and you have obtained a Mater's degree in your native country, in Canada you will be recognized as Bachelor's degree with 4 years of studies. |
